I am an international relations scholar working on Indian foreign and security policies, EU-India relations, connectivity, geo-economics and the relationship between the Indian Ocean Region and Europe.
I am currently Associate Fellow at LSE IDEAS, Senior Fellow (Non-resident), Asia Program, at Institut Montaigne, and Affiliated Faculty at IE University in Madrid. Prior to this, I was Non-Resident Associate Analyst in charge of the South Asia portfolio at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris.
I am a graduate of Georgetown University and completed my PhD at the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London. My doctoral research culminated in the book Building States, Building Peace: Global and Regional Involvement in Sri Lanka and Myanmar, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2014. I have taught courses on security and on the international relations of Asia at IE University, SOAS and the University of Zurich, and have also worked for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Costa Rica, Kenya and Sri Lanka.
My work contributes to the analysis of Indian foreign and security policies, with an emphasis on connectivity and geo-economics, as well as on the relationship between the Indian Ocean Region and the European Union. I also follow EU-India relations, emerging powers and the geopolitics of technology across the Global South.
My research examines foreign and security policy developments across South Asia and the Indian Ocean Region, with particular attention to maritime security, strategic connectivity, geo-economics and technological change.
I have taught courses on security, international relations of Asia, emerging powers, peace and conflict resolution, and political science at IE University, SOAS, the University of Zurich and other academic institutions.
